Cool TV Summer

It's actually the rainy season where I come from, so technically, the heat of summer isn't affecting me. Summer here ended two months ago. But USA's Summer TV viewing is really just heating up and you got to have something or someone to cool you down.

Who/What's the best ones to watch to cool things down this [USA] summer season? I've got a few suggestions:

Michael Westen in BURN NOTICE
played by
Jeffrey Donovan

Hands off! He's my new TV boyfriend; my summer fling... that is, until House comes back on TV.

Michael Westen is a fictional character in the television series Burn Notice. Michael Westen is an international spy who suddenly finds himself blacklisted. Dumped in his hometown of Miami without money or resources, Michael struggles to put his life back together and find out why he's been cut off. In the meantime, Michael uses his unique skills and training to help people who can't go to the police. - Wikipedia

Coolness factor:
  • Clever and inventive like MacGuyver, thanks to his years of training
  • Witty
  • Dresses well
  • Sex appeal
It has ran about seven episodes already and just yesterday, news has it that Burn Notice has been renewed for Season 2.

Patty Hewes in DAMAGES
played by Glenn Close

As always, Glenn Close gets too much into character here, that I am actually very intimidated by her.

Hard-hitting and charismatic, high-stakes litigator Hewes is the object of fear and envy in a brutal, back-stabbing business. She is determined to protect the little people from the corrupt interests that are crushing them but whether she is truly on the side of justice, or is just a Machiavellian powerbroker, remains to be seen. - Wikipedia

Coolness factor:
  • Manipulative, snotty, high and mighty bitch
  • Shrewd and calculating
No word on whether or not the show is renewed for Season 2 but the finale for Season 1 will be on October 16th.

The gang from MY BOYS

Five guys and one cute girl who is just one of the boys.

PJ (Jordana Spiro) is a twenty-something professional sportswriter looking for love within her world which is dominated by her group of male friends. Her tomboyish, no-nonsense approach to relationships tends to freak out potential suitors which leads her only female friend to advise her to dress and act more feminine. Co-starring Jim Gaffigan as Andy, Jamie Kaler as Mike, Michael Bunin as Kenny, Reid Scott as Brendon, Kyle Howard as Bobby and Kellee Stewart as Stephanie. - Wikipedia

Coolness factor:
  • An ensemble of actors with perfect timing and chemistry
  • The self-assured woman's version of Sex and the City
The show actually premiered in November with 13 episodes. The remaining 9 episodes are on for this summer.

The gang from GREEK

I honestly did not expect to stick through this but it's one of summer's refreshing surprises.

The show follows the story of Rusty, a college freshman who wants to have fun in college and leave behind his reputation as a high school geek. He wishes to join a fraternity, but his sister Casey does not want him to interfere with her current enjoyment of Greek life, especially since she is running for president of her sorority. Most of the characters belong to either the fictional fraternities Kappa Tau Gamma (ΚΤΓ) and Omega Chi Delta (ΩΧΔ), or the fictional sorority Zeta Beta Zeta (ΖΒΖ). - Wikipedia

Coolness factor:
  • Everyone plays a character so conventional and yet that seems to work so well for the show that I don't really mind it.
  • It has heart.
  • It's perfect for Summer TV viewing...it got its schedule and timing right.
Greek originally runs for 13 episodes but it is doing quite well, the network has ordered 10 more.
